Tesla Hit With New Lawsuit Alleging Racial Abuse

Much more than a dozen existing and former personnel of Tesla submitted a lawsuit Thursday alleging they had been subjected to racial abuse and harassment at the electric powered auto maker’s factories.

The lawsuit, filed in California state court docket, alleges plaintiffs were being routinely subjected to racist graffiti, slurs and harassment by co-staff, managers and human means, in accordance to the San Francisco Chronicle. The lawsuit also reportedly alleges that some of the plaintiffs ended up assigned physically demanding duties or passed over for promotion.

Plaintiffs “have been subjected to offensive racist comments and offensive racist conduct and self-discipline by colleagues, qualified prospects, supervisors, managers, and/or Human Methods personnel on a daily basis,” the match explained.

Tesla is dealing with a collection of lawsuits alleging racial discrimination and sexual harassment at its factories, which include a single by a California civil rights company. On Monday, a federal requested a new damages demo for a Black previous employee uncovered to have been subjected to racist abuse at the firm’s manufacturing facility in Fremont, California, following he rejected a $15 million damages award.

In December, a jury awarded Owen Diaz, a former elevator operator at Tesla’s Fremont manufacturing unit, $137 million after obtaining he was subjected to racial slurs and informed to “go again to Africa” in the course of his time at the factory. His damages award was reduced to $15 million, which he turned down.

In December, the carmaker was sued by six ladies accusing the organization of “rampant” sexual harassment at its Fremont factory, like recurrent catcalling, inappropriate touching, sexual opinions and other harassment by colleagues and supervisors.

Tesla, which dismantled its press office environment in 2020, didn’t immediately react to a ask for for comment.
